very frustrating trying to conduct a conversation here, when you lose your answer by being timed out after hitting the post button.
I agree... it reminds me of the old DOS computing systems! ::)

For what it's worth I'm on dialup, very slow dialup, and I'm never timed out. Perhaps it's your local IP not the site? I'm intentionally typing this slowly,I'm a 2 finger typist anyways, and we'll see if it times out. I aasume if this shows up on the site it didn't time out.
BTW I find the site is not slower or faster than any other but with dialup everything is slow.
I suspect that the slowness of the POC Forum is more a result of the individuals computer and/or their internet provider.
I am a very slow typer, using the hunt & peck system, plus I take my time to think about what I am writing.
Hmmmmm? Maybe I am not having any problems because I am slow.... 8)....Bill
Here is the fastest Internet available, and I have got it since new. All my other job and private internet applications work very fast.
only this one is extremely slow. Not each day, but 3 of four times.
Greetings! Go
- On the river Rhine banks in D?sseldorf we don?t use to have snow. This year we have since 19th of December.
It is just 2 fingers deep now, but every road is salted. D?sseldorf never gets very cold, deepest temperature was 20 F, usually 40 F. No Plymouthing here, no pics to share...
sorry but i don,t think it,s slow now , i,m on broadband , and find it is as fast as most other sites i,m on , its not instant but it s 100%better than it was , thanks Mark , we have to remember (i think i,m right here ) that its purely a volanteery ?job
Ok so maybe my expectations are too high. Every other site bangs along with almost instantaneous switching between messages or headers, and then this takes 15 to 20 seconds to go from a click on general discussion to the message list then another 12 to 15 to open a message. IN this day and age it is slow, I am on road runner and othere sites are fine. So I don't think its here. And I know it aint to many people trying to use it at the same time cause there is just me logged on currently.
Greg,
I think you are beating a dead horse. The problems with speed are probably directly related to the service provider. The POC is not an internet based club and this forum is on shared space. Improvement would require investment and I don?t believe anyone is interested in making that investment or for that matter enlisting new membership. This is evident by the lack of participation on this forum from the technical leadership as well as the various senior staffers. This club is very resistant to change and would prefer to use telephone trees and word of mouth between the organized regions. New blood would ouster long time patriarchs and that is currently undesirable. It is what it is. Of course you could join up, and start a region or revolution but in the interim enjoy what?s available.
