Not to early to start planning...
There is talk of a group from the eastern states making the same route as the POC National Tour from several years ago. Their tenative plan is to about 250-300 miles per day, across the upper part of the US. Middleboro MA, Metamorus PA, Gettysburg PA, East Liverpool OH, Auburn IN, Geneva IL, Clinton IA, Blari NE, Ogallala NE, Casper Wy, West Yellowstone, Missoula MT, Walla Walla WA, Troutdale OR, Portland.
I have suggested an alternate route through Idaho, which would run through some of the best scenery in the country... This alternate route would pick up in West Yellowstone, and would make the same number of overnight stops.

Looking for feedback, and curious if anyone on the forum is panning to make the trip.

You can count us in - hopefully with both coupes and the new teardrop. Since we live just outside Salt Lake City, anybody coming across I-70 or I-80 will come pretty close to us and we'd like to hook up with them also, if possible. We look foprward to seeing you and your family again.

Glad to see this thread started.
We are looking forward to seeing and meeting all of you here in Portland/Clackamas. Anyone driving across this country, or even a part of it, has a great opportunity to enjoy their Plymouth. Once your here (the Pacfic Northwest) there are just to many things to see. I would suggest that if you can you schedule some extra time after the meet to take a few days and see some more.
I hope a bunch of you can join up with the early starters along the way over. We are trying to get one or more of the TV stations to get shots of the group coming into town. We expect them to cover the meet as well. We want to let everyone know we are here to celebrate some great cars.
We will be watching this thread and wishing everyone a safe trip.

Happy to see your post, I'm surprised there is so little chatter about "Plymouths to Portland". One would think that the POC forum would be the place to read all about the event...
Looking forward to helping put together a group driving to Portland. I'm one of the only active Plymouth owners in Idaho, so it will be fun to connect with others coming through on their way to Oregon.

I am planning on attending the met in Portland.... Everything is supposed to be completed on my '39 conv cpe by early April so I am planning on driving the Plym to Portland.
After I leave Portland I am going to head north-east into Idaho and up into Montana where I found the car in 1996... I told the man in Montana that gave me the car that if I ever got it running I would bring it back to Denton, MT and take him for a ride.
I have not given much thought to joining the group from California that is going to Portland.... I just might do that....Bill
There is also a thread on the P15-D24 board trying to get a group together retracing the route of the POC cross country tour from a few years back. By the way the Plymouths to Portland thread linked below has had over 700 views on that board. Your reply there might also be of interest to folks giving some consideration to making the trip.
There is only one moderator so your registration may take 48 hour or more but I would encourage you to promote your event there also.

Portland tour update

Well, some work has been done on setting up a tour to the Portland meet. Full details can be seen at http://www.goldenstateregion.com/PortlandTour
But here is an overview:
We will take three days to drive up from San Francisco going most of the way on US-101. Return will be via I-5 and will take two days.
Trip planning is based on 50 MPH speed and about 6 hours of driving per day max with rest, refueling and sightseeing stops along the way. No night driving is scheduled.
Bob Semichy is considering taking his 1931 PA which would be the oldest vehicle on the tour. If he leaves that behind, then we have two 1933 Plymouths to tie for oldest vehicles on the tour. Newest at this point will likely be Eric Beeby's 1965 Barracuda (he will leave a day behind us but I expect he would catch up and join us on the second day).

Have a great time at Portland. I was interested to see that your driving plan (50 mph, 6 hours a day, stops for sightseeing) is almost identical to a trip my wife & I made in our '36 on old U.S. 66, from Bloomington IL to Vinita OK. We drove at 50-52 mph, about 6 hours of driving per day, with lots of sightseeing stops. We stayed at the mom-and-pop motels and ate at the old diners that were still open (this was in 1997).
Once again, have a great time; it's the only way to travel (no Interstates, no fast food).

Not really much of a story. I hit a rough patch of original U.S. 66 north of Springfield IL on the way to Oklahoma, and heard 'crack'.
The '36 handled about the same until I hit a rough stretch of road on the way home, and had a hard time keeping the '36 in it's lane. When we got home and checked, I had broken two leaves in each front spring. I was able to get replacements from a company called Eaton in Detroit. I replaced them in one day by myself; it took 8 hours to do both sides, due to switching around floor jacks and jack stands, and thinking out each move, so that I didn't get squashed like a bug.
