I'm looking to start my 1938 Plymouth truck this weekend? I have Two ignition switches that are in rough shape does someone have a good one for sale or a temporary bypass solution? Have coil,starter,6 volt battery,and regulator, Any help. Thanks alot Big Matt
This is not how to hot wire a car but, you can bypass the ignition switch by running a wire with a toggle switch between the batery negative terminal and the negative terminal on the coil, withe the switch on the coil will be powered. A simple length of wire with an alligator clip on both ends would also suffice. Engaging the starter through the stomp to start pedal should get it turning over.
Did you do a static timing procedure to make sure everythig is ready to go????

I suspect that his truck might have the armored cable between the switch and the coil that is typical of that era Chrysler product. If so, then jumping the car would be easiest if you have a spare coil to put in the circuit. You really can't get to the coil terminal on those systems with out a lot of surgery.

But all I see in their catalog is generic ignition switch.
