Title: drive shaft rebuild
Post by: dukjupiter on October 18, 2008, 09:55:54 AM
my 38 bus coupe developed a u-joint noise and vibration. although the old style ball and trunion joints are available i'm am building a new shaft with new style u-joints and a slip yoke. anyone think of any problems or what to watch out for. cost is about the same either way, i just think that new style is simple to fix and can be adapted if i go to a different drive line in the future.thanks

Should work fine but I would get it balanced before final installation.

I did that to my car ('35) and the only problem I had was there was so little clearance around the nuts that it took a lot of work to get the front end installed. If I remember correctly, it was because of the emergency brake drum.
