Am inquiring whether anyone has had experience installing an insert panel in the open roof area over the bows. I have seen it done on other makes using Masonite covered with the exterior fabric material to keep the original look. I would suspect it could be insulated to prevent a sounding board effect but not sure how it would be attached or fit where the special rubber gasket is installed.
Also, the literature calls for the fabric to match the body color and not sure whether that is available. Vendors only seem to carry black, long or short grain exterior vinyl. Any thoughts appreciated.

You don't install the fabric insert "over the bows". You remove the bows (actually a frame) from the body, stretch the fabric over the frame, then re-install the frame with fabric into the body. Details are at:

I was not aware that the fabric was supposed to match the body color. If so, then it has been wrong on every 1930s Plymouth I have seen.
