Feast your eyes on this 3x2 intake made by Harper to feed either a short or long block Mopar flathead 6.
Each Stromberg 97 directly feeds 2 cylinders each. The tube that runs from intake to intake is a vacuum tube. The tubes can be replaced to fit the long block 251ci.
Each carb has independent butterflies in them. So when you step on the throttle only 3 butterflies open. When you give it a bit more throttle the last 3 open up.
That is about all I know about this intake. I cant find anything else on the maker Harper. If anyone out there knows about it please ad your information here or email me.
Thanks in advance
didnt i see this in carlisle, and were you looking to trade for a 39-40 ford decklid? if so or if not are you trying to sell. if so how much.??
You saw it there but you saw it with the guy who I bought it from. Its going on my flathead 6 sitting in my 53 plymouth belvedere.
yep ithought that was the same piece and when i saw that ford in the background u thought i remembered the fella wanting to trade for a decklid from a 39 or 40 ford. anyway since carlisle i ran into a guy from venus, pa (got his card somewhere). he builds two and three carb and manifold setups for mopar flatheads. also does od trannies. really knows his stuff, i'm sure he could answer any and all questions you have about that setup. i will try and find his card for you.
His name is George Asche, he lives on Venus, PA.? He converts stock manifolds for dual inlet or outlet.? He also is into Carter B 1 B carbs, and doesn't put much stock in those off brands like strombergs or zeniths and stuff that Furd used.? Carters have a bit of a clearence problem fo gas lines when used in the stock position (floats bowls forward) with more than 2 ona short block intake.
george can be reached at 814 354 2621 days.? Be forwarned, a short phone call to him is 45 minutes. He does like to talk.
George Asche has some very interesting stuff. Here are a few pictures I took on my last visit.
