Title: 1939 Plymouth Windshield Center Bar Outer Stainless Clips
Post by: WRSW32A on August 19, 2008, 06:13:42 PM
Hello,
I am in the need for a pair of stainless windshield bar center clips. Those are the outer clips that secures the outer trim of the windshield for a 1939 Plymouth. I have been in contact with the Plymouth Doctor, Fat Fender Relics, and Moore's Antique Auto Parts. They have not been able to help. If anyone have a source for a pair of clips, please share your source.
Thanks,

I've never seen any but if they're like others I'm familiar with then I imagine they wouldn't be difficult to make. If they're flat you only need something the profile of the trim to bend a strip of stainless over and trim to size, if they were vee'd I'd cut and file a form on the end of a bit of plate big enough to clamp in the vise and clamp a strip of stainless to.
Australian cars used a longer division bar which looks like it was designed to make the clips obsolete but I've never seen one used with trim.

The stainless windshield center bar finish clips are unique to the '39 because of the V windshield. The clips from other '39 DPCD might work. I believe it would be a very difficult part to make because of the extreme radius's involved.
I think I have an extra set (2) of the clips, I will check my parts supply. I also have a set of windshield stainless trim plus a center strip.
For everyones info, I most likely have more hard to find '39 Plym parts than anyone in the country....Bill
