I am looking for a few of the throwaway type oil filters for the 50 engine. There are obsolete now from any source I have checked, such as NAPA/Wix.
If you are referring to the NAPA 1035 or WIX 51035, they stopped making them about 3 years ago. eBay or swap meets are your best bet. You might find a store with one on the shelf but in this day of computerized inventory the chances are pretty small.
You could convert to the type with the permanent housing and replaceable insert cartridges. If you are going for a judged show that would probably get you a few deductions.

a friend of mine with a 49 plymouth said he is still able to buy and use a wix 51071 cartridge type oil filter.
This took some major house cleaning to find but here are some filter numbers you might want to watch for at swap meets, parts stores, etc. This is from a 1951 Chrysler Motor Parts brochure. Original filter element # 861031. Replacement types include Purolator PN-15, Purolator N-15, AC - C-301, AC - C-29, Fram C-130, Walker RC-23, Wix PC-80N or DeLuxe C-46P.
Seems we went round searching all the auto parts stores for these about a year ago. This is new manufacture oil filter from Roberts Motor Parts. Their part number T45. Description is for a '31 Franklin, but believe these to be basically the same.
While they are not the long canister type that was used originally, these are the same 4-1/8 inch outside diameter as fits the original oil filter brackets, with 1/8 national pipe thread on each end marked "in" and "out". 5-7/8 inch long overall.
Some black paint and a repro Purolater decal from the California Classic Car Club guys and it's close.
Note that I have not ordered yet, but need to.
Good to hear someone is making these now. I'll have to add that Roberts oil filter to the cross reference on my site.
If you are going to go to the trouble of painting one, then you could go for the Mopar look:

These are two WIX51035 filters that I touched up to look more like the Chrysler/Mopar 861028 on the right.
