I was wondering how much the price of gas varies from state to state.
The price of regular gas has risen four cents a gallon here in the past three hours to 4.18.9 a gallon.

We are at about 3.79 to 3.89 for regular unleaded and up to about 4.79 for diesel here in northern Colorado. I have seen reports of $5.00 plus diesel in the mountain communities. I'm curious as to how much the price is affecting driving habits on both daily drivers and our old cars. For me ..... old cars .... no change .... if I want to drive it I drive it. However on my daily drivers I've had my Suburban parked with a full tank of full for the last month ..... its been sort of an "investment" since the gas has risen in "value" from about 3.54 to 3.79 per gallon. Otherwise I've been working on more projects around home and driving my Chevy Cavalier with the 2.0 Ecotec that gets about 35 mpg.

I went down to North Carolina on Memorial Day and on the drive down Friday morning I watch the gas prices go from $3.89 per gal regular in VA, to $3.98 per gal regular in NC.? This might have been the special rate for the Holiday Weekend.
We have a summer place on the Delaware shore and on the main drag going toward the beaches and Ocean City Maryland the price of gas goes up about 3 to 5 cents per gallon on the weekend then back down during the week for the locals.? ? It?s funny how the market seems to rise and fall every Friday & Monday during the summer.? This has been going on for years.

On March 6th of this year I put gas in the Plymouth. At that point gas was 3.37.9 a gallon, now two and a half months later it is darn close to a dollar more a gallon.
We live in the Catskills and get lots of summer people from NYC, but the prices basically are the same year around.
I have put almost 600 miles on the Plymouth since Febuary, but to do so, my Pontiac sits, Besides more fun to drive the Plymouth:):)
I know my retirement check hasn't grown any to take up the increases in everything because of the price of fuel. I hate the thought of heating the house come this winter with the oil prices, although I do also have a woodstove, but the price of firewood has also risen in the past few years. Oh well, just grin and bear I guess
I just got back from Ohio & Wv. I seen 3.99 to 4.25 for gas & 4.99 for diesel, I live in FL., gas 3.80-3.89 now and diesel around 4.50. I'm like the other fellow, on my old cars I drive them when I want to, I use my motorcycle alot more now and let my Ford dually sit with the 460 in it. While getting fuel at one stop a guy next to me had one of those little Honda's that has the battery and the 3 cyl. motor, I think a hi-bird, he gets 50-60 mpg, but he said he just bought 2 new batt's for it at $2,500.00 each, ouch, I don't want one of those,LOL. In Warner Robins GA, the going price is $3.85. Bought gas at SAMS Saturday for $3.69. I normally buy my gas at Kroger and will always get 3 cents off. If I spend $100 or more in the store in a calender month I get 10 cents off at the pump until the next time I hit $100 in the store.

Today in Northeast Illinois near the Wisconsin border the price for a gallon of Regular is going between $4.07to $4.17 per.? Most in the $4.07 to $4.09 range.

That?s interesting I was wondering what the maintenance cost would be on those hybrid vehicles.? I guess I just can?t seem to get my arms around a better engine then the old internal combustion standard.? I don?t think battery power is the answer, I think in the long run it will be too expensive.? The hydrogen cell might be something for public transportation systems where the vehicles virtually run night and day.? ?We can?t have nuclear vehicles because someone will probably make a bomb out of their car although I have seen a number of old bombs out there and they are relatively harmless.
My 2 cents on this whole issue is nobody really has a good marketing idea for an alternative combustion fuel.? I think a lot of ideas are pushed to the back burner if they can?t be mass-produced and sold to the consumer.? Consider the energy advantage of having every roof in the US covered in solar panels feeding power back into the national grid.? Oh Ya! Then power companies would be purchasing power from their customers?, bad concept.? ?
We would de-empower the Middle East if we could come up with an alternative fuel.? I think conservation is a short-term response and ingenuity would be a better tactic to move forward with.? Talk about Black Gold, Texas T.., well put your thinking caps on there are trillions to be made if one can come up with an ingenious idea.

I see y'all are paying round about $4.00 a gal. Here in the uk converting back to ?sterling? we are paying ?1.18 (or up to ?1.30 on a freeway) for a litre of unleaded/leadsub,derv is even more!!so doin the math and convertin back its around $10.00 per gal!!!im gonna have to turn my car off when I go down hill!!!
P.S I think it went up again in the time it took me to write this!!!
I would think that a person could buy alot of gas for the price of replacing those batteries, not to mention the higher cost of the vehicle to begin with

I assume you are referring to the mention of a hybrid vehicle in an earlier post on this thread.
For what it is worth, I've heard that Toyota over designed the Prius charging system because they were worried about battery life being compromised by bad charge control. End result is apparently they have had a few infant mortality cases on the batteries (under warranty) but other than that the batteries appear to be lasting as long as automatic transmissions on conventional cars (well over 100K miles). In other words the batteries are lasting the useful life of the vehicle.
I wonder about the "higher cost of the vehicle" argument. At present the demand is high so they are only making the fully optioned vehicles and some dealers are marking that up more. Call it capitalism at work. However a few years back the base model was about $20K which is not all that much higher than other comparably sized cars. And no one asks how long it is going to take to pay back the cost of, say air conditioning. Or the all-wheel drive hardware that is never used on most SUVs.
For most people it is not worth selling a good running car to buy a new vehicle with high fuel efficiency. But for the life of me I don't understand the people who are in the market for a new car ignoring fuel economy as so many people have done for the last few years.
In central CT it's around $4.15 a gallon and up. I am using my Dakota much less and using my PT Cruiser much more now. As far as my Barracuda and Roadrunner goes, they will be driven. But maybe not as much as I'd like. Last weekend I did take the Barraucuda to a show that was a 200 mile round trip. This car has a '65 Super Commando 273 with a 4bbl and I still got 17 mpg with it. That makes that car the long distance driver. At maybe 10 mpg the Roadrunner will be the shorter trip choise. While this is hard to do, I'll just have to learn to keep the secondaries closed! On both cars!!
My P 23 flatty 6 drinks less since I put the pertronix ignition. Before it made 15 mls a gallon, now it makes 16,8. Price here in Germany is 5,90 $ / gal. Greetings! Go
