Hi
This is for a 1941 plymouth, four door, with only one lock, which is on the passenger side door. See two pictures.
Need to replace the door lock, this is, if I have all the parts. Got another door lock and noticed that it had a rod attached to the cylinder part. My old lock does not have the rod part, it must have broken off. Have to drill the old lock out because the screw that holds the lock in place is broken or something. The screw fits into the door frame on the side of the door. Need to drill the screw hole part to free the old lock. After the old lock is out, then you put the new lock into to outside of the door and the cylinder fits into a metal holding plate that is inside the door. Where does the rod (that's attached to the cylinder) go? Maybe I'm missing an attachment or my eyes don't see a hole where the rod fits into. The manuel does not have a complete picture of the locking parts.
Jean:
The bar is the extension that fits into the door latch assembly and turns the mechanism that prevents the outside door handle from retracting the latch when the door is locked.
