Title: 1952 or 1953 FLAT HEAD SIX ENGINE
Post by: g6001 on March 31, 2008, 11:48:32 PM
1952 or 1953 FLAT HEAD SIX ENGINE ? Believed to be a 218 CID engine. Almost complete. This engine was running fine when removed from my 1939 Plymouth PT-81 pickup in favor of an original and correct engine.? This engine has no serial number.? After the Second World War, as I understand the history, Chrysler marketed over 100,000 engines as replacements for vehicles, farm equipment, marine applications, etc and this is believed to be one of those engines. The engine?s internal parts are fully assembled and include the cam, the crank, all pistons, bearings, rods, valves, valve lifters and springs, timing chain and sprockets and a new chain case oil seal and gasket still in the box.? The block (date stamped 05/08/52 and part number 1326229-39) includes the head (date stamped 09/02/53 and part number 1405849-5), manifolds, crank case ventilator pipe, oil pump, oil filler pipe but no oil cleaner top, dip stick, crankcase oil strainer assembly, fuel pump (no glass bowl), starter (Chrysler Corp., Positive Shift, Electric Auto-Lite Co., Model MZ4059, Serial Number 1T 42504), generator (Chrysler Corp., The Electric Auto-Lite Co., Serial Number 8E050356, 40 AMPS, Part Number 134326, casting stamped 7495), single barrel Cater Ball and Ball downdraft carburetor that is believed to need servicing (Casting stamped H1 D6G1), water pump with new water distribution tube, distributor (Chrysler Corp. Solar Spark Ignition, Splash Proof Distributor, The Electric Auto-Lite Co., Part 1343554, Serial 1 AT 4003 9E253130) and clutch with fly wheel, clutch housing (Part Number 57929820), fork assembly, fly wheel and fly wheel pan assembly.

No oil filter, no air cleaner, no oil pipe filler top, no fan, no carburetor linkage, the vibration damper (Harmonic Balancer) may not be correct, no cylinder head water outlet, no clutch inspection plate, no fuel pump glass bowl and no master brake cylinder. You will need a complete gasket set for crankcase, manifolds, water pump and a crankcase oil seal package.

Spare parts included some gaskets, some crankcase oil seals, fan belt and extra fan belt pulley, a new in the box clutch throw-out bearing, an extra new in the box oil pump, an extra new water distribution tube, and miscellaneous used sleeves, radiator hoses and water clamps (various sizes and lengths) plus some other odds and ends I?ll throw in as I?m packaging everything in anticipation of shipping. I will label the box or bag with what the extra stuff is.

This engine and all its parts and accessories are being sold as is.? I really don?t want to part the engine. No warranties expressed or implied. As stated above, the engine ran when removed from the truck and there is no reason to believe it won?t run after careful final reassembly. I am willing to help facilitate delivery up to 100 miles from Washington, DC and I'd like to have $400 (OBO) for everything mentioned above.
