Title: Reading a post
Post by: Carmen on February 26, 2008, 03:55:46 PM
Is there something wrong with my system or is this the way that the post on the POC are read? All the post are from the bottom to the top not like every other group I belong too. In other word who every answers this post their reply will be on top of my orginal post and the next one will be on top of that and the next on top of that. So if I want to read what that post is about I have to go to the bottom and work my way up. This isn't right.  How can I fix this?????

I remember when I first join the group ... there was in a discussion or vote on if it should be changed.... The problem I see is that someone could get off the subject if they only read the last post (which is the first post to them)? So if you wanted to know something about your trunk and someone mentions something about there under the hood idea... the next reader more likely answers the under hood remark.... I also belong to the H.A.M.B? good info and help for hotrods and original? car questions ,they show the original question first then, then u see the down the line responses and can jump any page Evan the last page which shows the last post....? also if you put your curse over the question it will briefly tell you whats in it.... In closing? The Plymouth Owners Club forum is a great one and I personally will take it anyway I can get it! Happy? Plymouthing DANiel

I to agree that this is a great fourm. I just wanted to know if this was just me or the site. I wonder what the results would be if a vote was held today.

As I follow the posts daily, I?m very comfortable and fast with the newest reply up. Only rarely I have to go back to the beginning to recall a cause. Greetings! Go

I have to admit that at first I found the order in which postings to the DB are listed, to be somewhat difficult to tract. When it dawned on me that how postings to the DB are listed, in a file/folder fashion, just like business files, it all made sense. I regularly visit several online forums, mostly car related, ie; Ford V8, Buick, Olds and two alumni related sites. All of these sites, with the exception of the POC DB are structured like a book, in lieu of like a file.

I think the 'file' method is more user friendly, the user does not have to scroll through pages and pages of past postings to get to the current postings.  I agree with Go...., it is very easy to scroll down to the beginning of a topic to refresh ones understanding of the earlier postings to the topic....Bill

I visit other sites where the original post always remains on top, which is nice, and the latest post is just below it. I like that arrangement best but will live with POC's arrangement, it's a great site.

Beig a newcomer on the board it took me a while to get up to speed. The basic problem was getting past all the new posts to get to the beginning. Once I spent the time on the posts of interest and worked them backword (up to date) it all became clear. Now, in only a matter of days I feel pretty comfortable with the process and like the idea that the new info is up front.

This is by far the best thing that has happened to me since getting my 30U.

Happy cruising to all.

I offered way back in the beginning to put it in the "other" order - it can be either way and can change if enough people want it to.  This board is "reverse" from many because the opinion at the beginning was check it every day and you will always get the latest at the top.

I don't really care myself - in some ways this board's current layout makes more sense to regular visitors - newbies get confused.

The way I see it if you check in every hour or so to see what the last person posted and said that is great. But most times a reply to a question is answered by 2-3 persons and the last person that is replying is making a comment from the post before him an not really answering the orginal post. Boy I sure hope you understand what I just said, I wrote it and I can bearly follow it. I think you get the idea.

Carmen,

I just do what the people want (most of the time) - if enough people want it like every other board in the world, it is fairly easy to change, just one push of a button.

My two cents worth, I think it is fine the way it is

I check the board often enough that I like the newest post at the top.  It is fine the way it is.
