Title: 37 plymouth
Post by: Half A Plym37 on January 25, 2006, 02:07:19 AM

Hi there, Plymouth people  :).

Im living in Norway and have just got an 37 Plymouth. Or atleast a half one, the front part and the front doors. This car i was rebuilt into a picup during second world war, atleast that whats my guess since the germans used all kind of cars to rebuild. And not to nicely eighter.Just grab the first sharp thing you got to cut with, chop the rearend off, bend down some of the roof in front so you got and wall behind you, ad some kind of bed on the frame behind you and woalah they`ve  made a pickup.
It seems to have been stored outside since those days to.

Weird enough the cromeparts is still on, got some "old-age" spots but theyr there. No people have seen the use of the parts. The frame seems in pritty good shape to and has just been (sandblastered??) sorry dont know the word for it, but its primed after this.
The hood, grillparts, doors with windows (doors even got the original panels on it, to bad use but ok enough to make a replika), firewall, dashboard ok, instrumenst have been smash thoug. The boddy around the doors looks ok enough.front window frame and glas is even there. But the parts that are supposed to rest against the frame is allmost gone.

I have however found one more car. this one has been sitting outside since the last 60`s and Im hoping to use atleast the rearend from it.

The cars is beyond any sort of saving to original car so i guess,,,,,"oldtimers and fans of the Plymouth" dont be mad at me ;) ;)    I have to atleast save those two cars so theyr running as a hotrod... Its still is a Plym     or two.

I hope that I can make some new friends in here. :)
I see of the forum that u people know what your doing..  I need that.

Ohh I almost forgot.  Can anyone of you trace down what type car one of them is:
Body-number:   3406-321
Serialnumber:   10331808

thnx for letting me tell this story to you and have a nice evening or day.

Welcome!

While the official stand of the club is to restore not modify, this board is more open.

You could still join the club though - you would get one of the greatest publications of any car club in the world - or you can just hang out here.  The only thing you could not do with a "Hot Rod" Plymouth is compete in a national meet - no problem as you probably will never take your car over here anyway.

Always glad to see any Plymouth and I know it is very hard for you Plymouth owner's in Europe and other places to do any major work on our American cars.

Your "half a Plymouth" is a 1937 P4 Deluxe model according to the serial number.  I can't identify the upper row of numbers, they don't make any sense as the 1937 body codes numbers all ran in the 900 number range.

Its quite possible this car is one of the first built in the Plymouth assembly plant in Kambo, Moss, Norway.  Chrysler opened a plant in Norway in 1937 and they built up cars that were shipped in pieces from the USA.  I have the film of the cars being assembled over there.  I believe one of the Norwegian car clubs has a copy of it as well.

Good luck in the restoration of "two" cars into one.  If I can help with info, feel free to contact the board here and we'll see what we can do for you.

dear Roy

as You have several cars, did You consider "restauring" Your piece of history into that crude pickup it was? You would have one unique car - and by the way it too shows what madness of all kinds war does in every aspect
Good luck! Yours Go

Hi plymouth people again.

I dont think I will make it back to a crude war-look again, becouse then I can't use the rearend of the other car. In some strange way this cars has a kind of souls to, maby thats only my way to see it? But I want them both to be back on the road running free again as they were supposed to. I can however, try to make them back to look "normal or original" using parts from both the cars, and not into a hotrod as I was planing. You see one of these cars was my friends father`s car once. And he would be more than happy to know that someone took care of atleast some parts of his oldie, even if he did'nt treat it so nicly after he had "worn it out".

By the way, its weird to call two cars one, and one cars two :P
and Jim, thnx for ur mail.

so long for now ppl.
