As far as I know the correct cigar lighter knob is a chrome one.
I have had my 1940 P-10 Business coupe almost twenty years and the lighter was in it when we got the car,

My '40 (which was Dad's car) has a chrome lighter.  But I remember Dad telling me he put it in the car so it might not be genuine MoPar.  Don't recall what my 7-passenger has in it...

Thanks for the info!  When I got my car which was sitting for some time ,, It also came with a chrome knob....  The only reason for the ? is , on ebay a guy has a knob with the Bakelite knob and printed on it" lighter" for sale .. so far 3 known "in the field" people told me it should be Bakelite with "lighter" on it ..... and three of us, with chrome  only.... If any body has any tie breaker info please let us know, Happy PLY mouthing DANiel

I have a friend up in Maine that his first car was his Aunt's 1940 P-10 coupe.  He got the car in 1957.  He told me last evening that that car had the chrome lighter and that the 1940 P-10 Business couple that he has now, which he got in 1967, has the original chrome lighter in it also.  He also told me that he has seen 1940 P-9's with the bakelight lighters.
Hope this helps,
Bob

My P-9 had a bakelight lighter in it but it was shot. I bought a complete set of cable & knobs ( including lighter ) from F Carlstrom about a year ago. Now my lighter knob says " liter" but at least it matches the other knobs.
