Title: car and window handles
Post by: scot58elk on October 05, 2007, 07:34:42 PM
Am restoring a 48 ply. In taking apart the interior door and window handles there was a spring behind each one. Do the springs need to replaced and if so why.

It's been a long time since I owned a '48 Plymouth (1963), but I think that those springs keep tension on the inside door panel and the trim ring behind your inside door handles and window cranks, so that they don't wobble or come off.

the spring keeps tension on the escutcheon plate, which in turn keeps the pin that holds the handle on from falling out.
