I have looked forward to showing my 30U Sedan at the big car show held in my town. But, after having a very hot summer, a lot of weekends out of town, and delayed deliveries of much needed parts, the old Plymouth just wasn?t ready. I guess I?ll just have to wait till next years? show.
When I told my friends they said I should enter the Plymouth anyway. They said it would be good to see a ?restoration in progress? at the show. Reluctantly I agreed to go, and this is the rest of the story?????.
My brother and I loaded a couple of lawn chairs, a small table, and a few towels into the 30U and headed out to the show. The Plymouth ran great and we arrived at the show with time to spare. I must say a lot of heads turned when we drove in and with no top, no glass, and the interior a mess I begin to regret bringing the Plymouth. Anyway, we found a spot to park and set up the table with a few items that I had brought.
It didn?t take long before people started to come by. Many enjoyed the Plymouth and the items displayed which included pictures of the car, an old ?Audels Automobile Guide?, and issue #157 of the Plymouth Bulletin. But what made it all worth while was when a woman in her 80?s slowly approached with a gleam in her eyes. You should have seen the way she led her son (about 50) around the Plymouth. She was telling story after story about riding in her dad?s car and all the places they had went. It was as if she had become a kid again right before our eyes.
Before leaving they took many pictures of the Plymouth, including some with her behind the wheel. I knew then, no matter what happened the rest of the day, it had all been worth the trip.
So the next time you think about not taking your Plymouth to the car show, I hope you remember this story. I know I will.
By the way??I also won a 2nd place trophy at my very first car show appearance. Talk about a great day.............

Dale,
Isn't it great when you have remarks like that from the older people. That is my greatest enjoyment of car shows.
I had one older lady sit behind the steering wheel of my car and she had tears in her eyes from the memories of days gone by.
Good luck with you car, it looks great.
Bob
Yeah......ain't it nice when someone gets a kick out of seeing your car and talks about their memories from years past.
Looking good even in it's unfinished condition.? Congrats on the trophy.?
