Title: Texas and the LONE STAR REGION
Post by: Mike on January 13, 2006, 01:56:28 AM
Hi Everyone...I have been a member of the Plymouth Club for many years. I own 2 great cars, a 1950 Plymouth Club Coupe and a 1963 Valiant. I live in Victoria, Texas which is near the Gulf Coast about 2 hours from San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. A couple of years ago I contacted Jim Benjaminson about why the "so called" Lone Star Region appears in the magazine all these years , but NOTHING, I mean NOTHING is going on down here. Humble, Texas is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from me through some beautiful scenery. Thomas Heidorf is/was the contact person. I tried to get a number on him tonight through information, but nothing. So I will assume the Lone Star Region is NO MORE (if it ever was). I cannot believe that I am the only Plymoputh Club member in this area of Texas and I would be willing to get a REAL region going down here. I tried 2 years ago through Jim, but gave up. I guess I'm willing to try one more time. I can't believe I'm the only member west of the Miss River who would like to see a Plymouth Club event west of the Miss River that one could actuallt attend within the scope of a vacation. If there are ANY members in the South Texas area, please email me and lets get together. Lets get a region going down here or, at best, revitalize the "Lone Star" one. I believe the time has come to really help make this club truly NATIONAL........if anyone from National is listening, I would appreciate your help. If I could get a roster of the Texas members, that would be a start. The above is not a complaint, it is a plea for help and an offer of help to the National as well. I would think the national club would want to get these dormant areas going again. If nothing else, please remove the Lone Star Region listing from the magazine, or tell me who to contact in it to get more active. Any help will be appreciated. Of all the clubs that I belong, The Plymouth Bulletin is my favorite. Now if I could just participate a little closer to home...say no more than 1,000 miles away. Thanks, Mike Boyd, Victoria, Texas
