I have a great car,and have always wondered who had it originally and where was it born etc. Is there any way to see where the car was originally registered and who had it...from almost 68 years ago-?? any thoughts are appreciated..thanks,Dennis
If you get the "build card" from the Chrysler Historical Collection they will list the dealer the car was shipped to. I suspect that dealers traded among themselves back then just as they do today, so that might not be the dealer that sold the car but I is very likely that it will get you the general geographical area. To get the build card see:

My feeling is the state motor vehicle departments don't keep records forever nor are they very helpful for individuals doing that kind of research. But I wish you the best of luck on it.
If you do not have any paperwork, the best approach is to try where the car was last registered. Work you way back - if you can find one contact from the last ten - fifteen years, you might be able to find out who or where they bought it. Keep working back.
It is easier to track odd or limited production vehicles - a plain Jane four door is going to be harder to find a history on than a Bright Yellow convertible. Just more people notice one and not the other. Dealers die and change hands so often, it is very hard to go that route. Private owner's and people in the town where the car came from are better points to start.
Good luck!
