Title: pricing my plymouth
Post by: 50Plymouth on August 18, 2007, 12:21:56 PM
Well, in the interest of family harmony and paying tuition bills I am considering parting with some of my toys including my p20 - 50   Plymouth 2dr. I've got a little mixed feelings, but this thread isn't about regrets - I am wondering what my car is even realistically worth for a good tempting selling price.

I've got pictures and info of what all I have done on a "prototype" car flier that can be viewed here (a few big pictures):

Basically I've got a running p20 2dr. with a p23 front clip. The body is worn out and somewhat abused with usual rust in floor and rockers and some dings, theres a hole by drivers feet. Interior cloth is shot. It's still 6v pos. grnd, but it has power disc brakes, w/ dual MC. It's received Coil springs; boiled\lined tank, new exhaust, pump, cables, used radials, ect., Good solid frame and drive train (original), 47k mileage. Runs and stops well.
Bottom line, I invested right near 2 grand all together (kept receipts) and am wondering what cars in this kind of condition realistically go for, which I would expect to certainly be fair less than what I put in. I obviously would expect to loose money, and I have an idea of what I would myself would actually consider paying for something like it - but I just want to hear from a dedicated forum crowd on what they think before I commit myself in terms of local non-ebay selling.

Again, the above link includes the breakdown of what all has been done, with pics.

Ryan,

I think you have done a nice start on a resto/mod and if you had more money to invest, it would be a cool ride when finished.  On the down side, early 50's Plymouth's are not a "hot item" and there are a LOT of things that need to be re-done on that car.  It is just a somewhat cool driver at present based on that observation,

I will make a stab at pricing it for local sale - $900 - $1,200.
