Original owner purchased new and lived in Colorado, passed away and the car went to
an elderly Aunt who stored in a local museum for about 5 years and the car came
to a relative in Kansas where I purchased the car.
It has NO rust, is very complete with original jack, crank.? The car strarts and runs
but, has not been driven as we have not gone through the brakes as of yet.
The only thing not original on the car are the headlights,tail light, gas cap and oil breather.
The paint is 75 years old, checked and has wax in the checks that has dried white makeing
them really stand out. The top appears original and does have 2-3 small 2" tears in it.
Seats are covered, which we have not removed them. Hub caps have been curbed, extra spare
in the rust free trunk (no mat).? Grill is straight as a pin, but has been painted. Front bumper
has a very fixable bow in it and also has been painted.? Rear bumper straight but painted.
There is one 3" round ding at the hinge point mid way on the door, right at the "trim feature"
The drivers front fender has a dinger right at the tire edge, that the most inexperienced body
man can fix.
We think that it even has the original 1933 Colorado license plate on it.
Car is located in Basehor, Kansas just west of Kansas City, Kansas.
$15,000.00 is my price on the car.

There is no doubt this car is a good find - and values are subjective. Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Personally I thought "Plymouths" was being very subjective in his posting in pointing out various items that someone unfamiliar with Plymouth's wouldn't know wasn't original or correct. As to the comments about the car's value - there are a lot of RESTORED Plymouth coupes of that era that have sold in that price range. The car has a lot of potential but its not a really high value car in the state its in. What is unfortunate in this hobby is the effect the high publicity auctions are having on it. People see a car sold for big dollars at these auctions automatically think all cars of that year/era/body style are now worth that much money.....the old clunker in the barn is now worth "big dollars". All I can hope for is this little Plymouth coupe finds a home with someone who will appreciate it and restore it to its former glory....regardless of what it eventually sells for.

PC itself went through a number of revisions including moving the front axle on the springs a little to allow the possiblilty of side mounted spares.
The photos look like a PCXX to me. To settle it the serial number from the passenger door hinge post would be useful.

Serial number 1844815 is a PCXX built in Detroit near the middle of the production run (number 27,714 of 41,319 built). Engine number is also PCXX, it is 29,838 of 43,730 built. I don't have records on the body number tag on the firewall but the PC prefix and BC suffix indicate that it is a PC (or PCXX) business coupe. My data shows that there were 9,200 were PCXX business coupes built.
Since the serial number and engine number are both from the same general part of the production run it is possible that the engine is original to the car. That can be confirmed by buying a copy of the build card from the Chrysler Historical Collection.

You can confirm if the car has the original engine - the engine number is stamped into the left rear frame rail - you'll have to remove the left rear wheel, clean the rust & crud and you should find the number on the side of the frame rail....

appreciate it.? I had print outs of EVERYONES information and was given to the
new owner and he really appreciated it.
Just as a guide line for everyone the selling price was $14.200.00.? It was sold
at a MO-PAR car show and swap meet here in Kansas City (Cabela's) on Saturday.
There was a LOT of interest and one fellow came back just as the car sold, I don't know
if he would have bought or not..but...my felling was he would have.

I find this very interesting and I'm happy you sold the car.
This proves two things.
1 That a car is worth what someone will pay.

2 That a car is worth what a seller is willing to sell it for.
It a buyer wants an old plymouth, he can not get it for a cheap price unless a plymouth owner agrees to sell it for a cheap price. Maybe we plymouth owners have been told that our cars are not worth what chevy's and ford's are, so WE AGREE to to selll them for less.? A total restoration cost big dollars. I will never sell my plymouth for less than the restoration( I plan on keeping mine tell I die). If a buyer can buy a restored? plymouth at half the restoration cost, because a? current plymouth owner is willing to take a loss, then restored? plymouths will never be worth their value? and the owners that make the restorations will keep losing money.? I'm with most of the people on this board, the price of our hobby is out of hand, the costs are making this a hard hobby to get into. We plymouth owners should not be as willing to eat the cost when we sell our cars. This will only keep the cars below restoration costs.
When I bought my 1941 plymouth coupe I wanted one like I drove in 1967 when I was 16 years old. I would have paid a lot of money for it because I wanted one just like the one I drove 35 years before. I was lucky to buy the original car back from the guy I sold it to IN 1967. I guess he thought plymouths wern't worth much either. He charged me $1500.00. I guess I'm lucky I didn't drive a ford or chevy because at the time I was willing to spend a lot more on any car(including a plymouth), I just wanted the car I drove in 1967.
So far I spent $28,000.00 on a total frame off, rotiss. resoration.? I welded all new sheet metal in the car, anything that looked like rust was replaced, the undercarrage of my car looks as good as the hood. As much time was put in the frame restoration as the body restoration.? My car is still 6 volt and has the 201 flathead six. I made some modifications that the purists might not like( base/clearcoat paint ,fuses and plastic wiring), but I plan on driving the car for 150,000 miles over the next 20 years.
I know the 2000 hours of my own time building the car were done as a pleasure and not to make money and I would never expect that in a final sellig price.? A true buyer that knows the work involved in a restoration would easily give me the $28,000 I have in the car because he would know the value of the work done if he had to do it himself, and what the cost of the parts are worth.
After 4 years of hard work I hope to have the car done in 4-6weeks. When it is I'll publish a few pictures(in 1967 and 2007).
So as a plymouth owner, whats my 1941 worth?
It's priceless, no amount would buy it.

Glad to hear the car sold - and to someone who will keep it original. The sale price surprised me but then I live in a part of the country where things are considerably cheaper all the way around! I always cringe when someone asks me what I think their car is worth....the perfect answer is "what someone will pay for it and what you will accept for it!". Hopefully the new owner will join the Plymouth Club! JB

show this spring. It looked as original as it did the day I put the ad
on this forum ! There was one change, new mastercylinder and
brake shoes. The owner was one happy camper and proud.
Sorry Ply-Mouth you were not in the market for an original PCXX,
and I'm still pissed about your attitude
and remarks. (You still don't allow e-mails or I would have confronted
