Hi Go,

It looks like a nice road trip Thanks for posting the great pictures and the narrative.  I need to do more driving and less fixing.

Hallo ,
yes, Bob, I think they are banned everywhere in Europe to. Maybe to different degrees: here in Nordrhein Westfalen smoking at Workplaces, offices and inside publik Restaurants and bars is not allowse.
In other states the owner can decide and put a smokin allowed sign on his Bar.
The Swedish, I suppose, probably did choose the harder way.
The Automat ist from the 50ies and out of funktion.
The Prices on it are vintage too....
The l.ocale in Helsingborg was Ebbas Fik, really a museum burger restaurant!

Here is an english version of their homepage, maybe You have to klick "translate"::

Go, I have to ask, are cigarettes as taboo in Europe as they are here in the US?

When I first stated smoking back when JFK was President, I smoked my share of Chesterfields.  Thankfully I haven't had a cigarette in five years., but it took nine weeks of chemo and 35 radiation treatments on my neck to get me to quit

That's one hell of a rod trip Go, thank you for taking the time to post up for us, several yrs ago I undertook a tour of Holland when my late son was living in Venlo. Also thanks for your email, that's going to get some use for sure.

3rd part of 3:

We made a trip to ?ngelholm, I wanted to visit it?s Railway Museum (#13).

http://www.engelholm.se/jarnvagsmuseum/Information-in-english/

?ngelholm museum:  56.243082, 12.854357
(You even can see the old electric loco standing next to the building!)

Slamming one door close, one bolt head broke off the ragtop linkage. I didn?t dare to open the roof anymore, but one mechanic at H?gan?s just took the worm off the linkage with a dentist?s extraction gripper-  a completely new procedure for me ex- dentist... (#14)
Not finding a compatible FNF screw, he skillfully welded the worm back to the head and I was able to open the roof again! Imagine my surprise, when I saw his pristine 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville plus
an ~1984 Mercedes SL in his barn!

We passed one other day in Helsingborg finding this 50ies cigarette vending machine with a Ronald Reagan advertising (#15) in an US- style diner.

The return to D?sseldorf was an 850 km / 528 mls all Autobahn ride (#16) taking the exceptional ?resund Bridge and Tunnel (#17, Sweden to Danmark) and later the Puttgarden Ferry (#18, Danmark to Germany).

Besides of the broken bolt, in 1300 mls we had no problems, no overheating, nothing. Making top speed most of the way, oil consumption was 0,5 l/1000 km (0,18 gal/1000 mls).and gas 16,1 l/ 100 km (14,45 mls/gal). I just will have to put a fresh lining on the emergency brake and adjust the cluch. Walter P. Chrysler could be proud of his engineering!
Greetings from D?sseldorf!

Part 2 of 3:

The ferry from northernmost german harbour List/ Sylt took us to the neighbour Island of R?moe/Danmark (Foto #7) with a road- sea dam to the mainland.

Syltferry at R?moe:   55.086172, 8.569909

The open top ride to Kolding on the Baltic Sea (#8) followed only secondary streets again.
We both loved it!

Kolding Harbour:   55.490869, 9.486084 (choose "Highways no")

After a good meal, we proceeded all highways (speed restriction 80 mph max.) to Copenhagen.

Copenhagen west:   55.691485, 12.444032 (choose "Highways: yes")

We had to cross 2 major sea narrows.
This one is the eastern Stoerebeltbridge in the background, shot from the western half of it (#9):

Storebelt bridge w:   55.3213929, 10.9358874

From Copenhagen west we crossed the city through a not very nice part of it to reach the ?resund beach north of the city.

CPH east:   55.745062, 12.583896 (Choose "Highways no")

To compensate, the beach road to Helsing?r is marvellous! Beautiful properties and free sight to the ships going from and to Northern Sea / Baltic Sea.

Helsing?r ferry terminal: 56.032817, 12.615239

From Helsing?r the ferry brought us to Helsingborg/ Sweden (#10). We had less than an hour to my sister?s home in Viken.

Viken:   56.145171, 12.575901

This is an old fishermen?s village, now only ~20% resident?s homes. The balance is used only for holidays. Very beautiful sailing harbor and well kept properties (#11, #12)

1st of 3 parts:

Dear Friends,
its a month ago now that we terminated our 1300 mls Plymouth holidays 2017. I didn?t find time to post earlier.
I put 6 fotos with reduced size in every part of this report - I hope that You can handle the data.
I can?t put a map because of copyright limitations, but I would mail it personally to interested members. Need Your e-mail adress then, if it is not in Your profile.
Or put the data in Your map, if You want to follow map details:

D?sseldorf:    51.229486, 6.750118
Hamburg:    53.553362, 9.997024   (choose "Highways yes")

We started from D?sseldorf to Hamburg, by Autobahn.
With its overdrive, the Plymouth does 140 km/h (87 mph) (checked by GPS- Unit). The engine turns at 2500 rpm which is loud. So, usually we cruise at 120 km/h (75 mph), which is more comfortable with top down too.
We had 3 days to visit the City (Foto #1) and meet a couple of Model Railroad friends. They had organized a Harbor Belt Railway private tour (#2) to some places You can?t get otherwise.
Than we had a very extensive and exclusive roundtrip by launch.
The next Plymouth leg - all secondary streets (#3)- brought us to Nieb?ll Terminal with a coffee stop at Husum Harbor (#4).

Husum Harbor:   54.475734, 9.049179 (choose "Highways no")
Nieb?ll Transfer:    54.782765, 8.837884

There we took the autotrain shuttle (#5) to cross the sea dam to the Island of Sylt.

Sylt/ Wenningstedt:   54.938497, 8.317788

The Week there with lots of Plymouth excursions could have been a bit warmer, but climate, ambiance, visitors, and food is exceptional. We frequently had holidays there, some of them in Plymouth.

Sylt tries to keep its unique features as reed roofs and pebblestone walls around the properties (#6). Real estate prices are beyond of everything!

The Northern Sea was too cold for us to take a swim - 14 deg. C / 52 deg. F.
