Bill,

All our snow has stayed in Canada so far this winter, do to the weather pattern.  Can't say as if I am complaining, the fire wood and fuel oil last longer and the "Wayback Machine" driving time as surely increased   No real winter weather until after the first of the year supposedly

Bob,

I like that photo of your Plymouth framed inside a wreath.

Say, where is all of your snow?

I had found an old B&W photo of a lady sitting on the front fender of a 1940 Plymouth convertible, so I saved it with the thought of asking my wife to pose for an updated photo.  I asked her yesterday if she minded, she said no, so is the original and the two that I took yesterday

Just having fun recreating the past and enjoying the present,
Bob

Yesterday, on Sunday, my 88 and 89 yrs old parents in Bonn (ex- Capital of Germany) had their 65th wedding anniversary.
They invited the family (me, my 2 sisters, the wife/husbands, the 7 grandchilds, their 5 partners, 3 grand-grand childs (-not everybody was able to attend-) plus a couple of old friends ) to lunch and coffee at Bad Honnef, "am Domstein" vine cellars.
Domstein is a vintage quarry, 30 mls up Rhine from Cologne, where they got the stones from to build the K?lner Dom, built in some hundred years.
http://www.weinhaus-domstein.de/bildergalerie.html
One hour Autobahn from D?sseldorf with the plymouth, my wife and me picked them up and had to take the K?nigswinter ferry to cross the Rhine River.
http://www.faehre-koenigswinter.de/index.php/fotos
The route back we took another ferry at Niederdollendorf, a few miles down stream. Ferrys have to avoid heavy freighter traffic, the belgian one was very fast down stream!
http://www.faehre-godesberg.de/index.php
The convertible is much more easier to board for my parents, the Mercedes station and the convertble of my wife are much smaller! I still keep Pa?s Peugeot 504 4dr Sedan from 1978, it is larger than Claudi?s cars too.

Good health to everyone, specially Bob! Greetings from D?sseldorf! Go

Thanks Go, did you buy the Ford?
  •

Go Fleiter

nice to see You cruising- I will follow Your example this evening (no time for the Ply,) - regarding the beer...

Last month I came across this Ford (K?ln) FK 1000 van, it is from a bycicle shop 5 km away.
Look inside: crude steel, engine between the front seats. (much more loading space than a VW-Bus)

Bob, just thought I would let you know that the motor from my 40 conv. Is being change as we speak. W e talked at the Rhinebeck show and u expressed some interest in the current engine. It is a 50 ie p20 motor in good running condition. Let me know if interest or anyone else who might want a good 50 motor. Burns no oil and runs strong.

Its five weeks now that weather is fine.
I try to work on the car outside in my yard having my tools and shop there.
I put a new rubber floor , had to make it in 4 pieces, but looks fine!
The original stays under it but has gotten very dry and fragile...

Today, I take a bride to the church, car is polished and a gem today!

Brian,
My bell housing from the old engine bolted right up to the other engine, so we were able to use my column shift tranny

I learned a lot from this engine change, many of the parts were interchangeable, like the bell housing and tranny, also the water pump, and  intake and exhaust manifolds.  I had to use those part off of my '41 engine on the '36 engine, plus the oil filler tube and my distributor.
  •

captbrian41

good deal Bob, did you use the floor shift tranny or the old column shifter and tranny. Hope you're feeling good.

Here in Germany, only this week temperatures are rising from 35 drg. F. to 55 next Saturday. Sun has laft for rain now, but Friday may return.
From today, one of Europes biggest Oldie Fair, "Techno Classica" at Essen?s  "Gruga fairgrouds" will open, 30 min from my home.
I plan to go with the Plym the first time this year on Saturday, as I have a list of parts to look for.
Provided rain goes...

Dear Bob,

April 6, 2011 You began to write this beautiful column to share Your Ply miles and country with us!

Congratulations, although You don?t get much answers, for me this is the nicest postt !
It is a pity, that patronage dropped so much in the last years (this is by far the slowest site  of all I ever used)
Keep on posting and recovering Your health!

Greetings To You and Your greater familiy from D?sseldorf!

to Your car as a canvas cover  would do, impeding the air circulation.
Best , after a garage, could be just an open roof and no grass under the car.....
