Boys, nice shots of this winter!
I didn?t drive since October because of bad weather, now it is nicer, but we need a heavy rain to wash all that salt from our roads.

For Coopper: our cat still is swtched in winter mode...

Hey Bob, This is a bit slack for SD but it has been a pretty open winter so far.  It started snowing last night and still going on today, I don't know when it will quit, but, Spring is coming. Also, this storm is headed your way. lol

Wow Glenn, you sure got more snow than we do.  We received about six inches of snow Thursday into Friday and would you believe that it is basically gone now
  •

SD Glenn

Hey Bob, good to see your pictures. Thank you.  I will attach the latest on the 39, haven't been driving it this winter, or even got it under cover, I just did not have any room left, had to leave one outside.
Take care

Cooper and I were out and about in the "Wayback Machine" a couple of times this past week, just have to share. If you look closely you can see the ice build up along the rock cut.  There is no place to park on either side of the road through this one area, so that is why I took them through the windshield.

The one of Cooper and the Coupe was in this weeks local paper.  I like the way they incorporated this weekends time change into the article.

Hope everyone has a great upcoming weekend,
Bob

Here are a few photos that I antiqued, I may have posted them before, but here goes just the same.  It has been cold, damp day with some freezing rain and snow showers here in the Catskills today.  Just thought these photos would warm things up

I had the Plymouth out today for the first time in almost a month, that is a story in itself, here are two photos of the Plymouth and Neversink, Res that supplies water to NYC.  You can see that it is completely frozen over

Your car looks good in that Ad, back in the day it probable was, if you could find it.  Glad you are doing well Bob, don't forget to leave that shovel alone.  I don't feel so left out this morning, I have about 8-10 inches of fresh snow, with more coming by the hour.  Not sure where we will end up, but we have NO wind yet, so it isn't too bad.  Take care Bob

Amazing what you can do with a computer these days. Something about the look of a late 30's early 40 coupe also that just sets them apart. Good to see you're plowing and not shovelling Bob.

Just had to share,  A friend of mine from Michigan took this 1946 Plymouth ad that I had out of an issue of "Farm Journal" and incorporated my car in the various scenes.

I know the tires and wheels aren't correct, but oh well, such is life as I think the new ad is FANTASTIC.

Thanks Ed

SDGlenn,

All is ok here, we lucked out, only got about six inches of snow, not much compared to what they got to the east and north of us.

I spent the day Friday in this and also yesterday morning, but I never I got my driveway shoveled out

Freezing rain tonight and tomorrow, now that we don't need.
  •

SD Glenn

Bob, You get your butt back in the house and quit shoveling snow. Sure enough that is what you are doing.  Hope you are feeling OK, haven't heard nothing out of you for a spell.  Take care of you

is the fastest available, 6 months old in the office. My home?s is 18 months old, both work on the fastest net available. Luckily we have this net here.
At home, the computer is marginally slower, but on this Ply Site it is as slow as the office?s one - much slower than all of the Hobby and work sites I use to visit.
Maybe I?m spoiled by the high performance all the other sites have??

Glenn, I don't mean slow as in computer slow, slow as in comments and usage, like I mentioned before, if it wasn't for a certain few members, this forum would be commentless, which is too bad as it is a nice forum and I have learned alot since being a member.

Tod, we have Oshkosh and International trucks for our plow trucks, the controls for the plow and wing sit in front of the passenger seat.  The sander controls are to the driver's right between the bucket seats.

The State trucks only use the driver, no wingman most of the time, (to save money) the controls in the state trucks are to the driver's right between the seats.

Hey all,  Bob and Go - - I think this website is plenty fast, maybe check with your IPs. Of course I may be slowing down also and don't notice. lol   I like your car Sebastiano, it still looks like mine. lol  What is that headlight you have on the left side, is that a conversion to a square type headlight?  I hope to have mine ready to "Drive" it to the Meet in Arizona in April, should be a nice drive, roughly 1500 miles from me to Az. I'm not in a hurry so it should be OK. And I will keep my fingers crossed.  Wish me goodluck with that. lol   We have plows similar to yours Bob, however not as large, and perhaps not all 4 wheel drive .

Hi Bob,
I am with you, age helps us to better understand and appreciate life.
In 2006 when I came to U.S. a friend of mine invited me to Chicago and I went ...
His words: "remember that life is short" to do the things that I differ I have not done.
This is the reason why I am in the conflict to an end as soon as the work on my P8.
I want to go on the road ...

Go, Thanks for the comments.  I have to agree with you about this site, too bad as I have enjoyed it very much over the years and recieved lots of great help from other members.  Seems like if it wasn't for Pat O, Seb, SD Glenn, yourself, me and a few others, there would be no comments what so ever

Right now the roads are white with salt, more snow on the way tonight into tomorrow morning, so I am sure we will be out plowing and sanding again tonight.  The photo is my ride during the winter, I don't drive it, but operate the plow and wing

So it takes two to run the plow? I guess I'll have to take a closer look at the CalTrans plows when I see them in operation. I've only noticed a driver, not at separate operator for the plow and wing. Same thing for the rotary plows... Only noticed the driver. On the other hand, when the plow goes by I'm mostly looking for getting out of the way so I very well might not notice that kind of detail.

Fine to see You doing plyMiles!
Salt is not good for cars and dogs. So give them a good wash - if the garage is heated.
If not, wait until spring. Your mountain guys know of cold temperatures!

Here, in proximity of river Rhine, we seldom have longer times much below 30 deg. F.
But the streets are really full of salt, because of 1/10 inch of snow....

All the best from D?sseldorf!
Yours Go!

PS.:
This forum stays to be ennoyingly slow, so I seldom visit it more than once a week!
Was my early morning site all these years. What a pity!

I personally don?t like design and structure of P15D24 Forum, most of our Ply friends are there now.

Good for you Bob! You're absolutely correct when you say "I am going to enjoy that old Plymouth as much as possible when ever possible, as one just never knows".

Sorry to hear about your medical problems but I'm glad you and Cooper are getting a chance to get out and have some fun!

Hi Bob,

18 degrees this morning in Northern Virginia going up to a high of 21.  I am sure it will be much colder today in the Catskills.  Glad to see you are still logging miles.  Give Cooper a pat on the head from me.  He is a Mopar dog, for sure.

Oh believe me Pat, I have cardboard in front of the radiator, that is a must this time of year.  Going to be snowy and extra cold here the rest of the week
  •

36 Ply

Hey Bob,

Better stick some cardboard in front of the '40s radiator. After going for a topless ride 2 days ago in the '36, the wind chill is minus 7 this morning.

We had a decent day weatherwise here in the Catskills yesterday, so Cooper and I went for about a 20 mile ride in the Plymouth, just makes winter that much shorter.  If you look closely at the two photos with the water you can see the white caps from the wind and ice in the other one.  We also stopped for a cup of coffee.  I know the salt on the roads will make some of you cringe, but after surviving two heart attacks, nine weeks of chemotherapy and 35 radiation treatments this past year, I am going to enjoy that old Plymouth as much as possible when ever possible, as one just never knows and boy did I find that out

Bob,
how do You take the mud out of the fenders??
You sure cant?do it in Santa dress...
Maybe You can educate Cooper?

We have had lots of light rain and fog this past week, yesterday the sun finally came out, so Cooper and I went for a ride in the "Wayback Machine"

I will admit it looks more like late March, or early April instead of almost the middle of December.

SDGlenn, a far cry from the weather you are having

SDGlenn,

We have been having light rain and fog here on and off for the past week, no snow or really cold temps.  Odd weather for the Catskills this time of year.  Today the sun might come out to start to dry things up, sure hope so.

Thanks for posting the photo,
Bob

SDGlenn,
is unusual to see a car so old to see covered in snow.
We have a little cold (sometimes even a dusting of snow), but we keep the car in the garage and covered.
For your '39 this is life!

Hey Bob, Get ready for the winter of 2012.  The snow storm just left SD, so I reckon it will be at your place shortly, if not sooner. lol  We got pretty well socked in, roughly 8 inches then the wind came up, so now we have drifts too.  Oh well that is normal for us, how you doing. The 39 got left outside and has a real snow cap now, may need to get the snowblower out for that. Will get it in the garage as soon as I get the stupid Mustang out. lol
Take Care,

Hey Bob, You make a great Santa Claus. I can even see the twinkle in your eye. You are doing great, Congrates.  Myself, I am way too skinny to fit any kinda Santa Suit, guess I will remain his Elf.
Your 39 is looking good Seb, hows it drive? I did drive mine about 130 miles Saturday. Quite a few of us met up in a little town about 70 miles from my home,( I still have a heating problem) a couple others drove there also, a 1934 Ply Rod and a 48 Coupe. Looking good. We set up a new  Region POC. Called it the "Lewis and Clark POC Region" for the eastern part of SD. It will be coming out in the new POC Bulletin I think.
